EVAWG-CB (Cross Border) (End Violence against women and Girls)


EVAW/Gs under the aegis CBATN since its founding in 2004, has been working in border transit points in India as a non- profit organisation with the goal of reducing and controlling human trafficking. Furthermore, CBATN has launched a number of anti-human trafficking development programmes in a number of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand regions. Women, gender Inequalities, and children have been the main areas of attention. The target locations that have been mapped are those that are close to borders and have a high rate of migration.


The movement called EVAW/Gs/CBATN was initiated under the leadership of Late Indrani Sinha and Mr. Jata Shankar Tripathi in close coordination with organizations working on the issue of trafficking in SAARC countries in the year 2004.


Additionally, the organization has worked with the relevant authorities to support the projects, and promoted the initiatives and activities that led to the creation of the CBATN (Cross- Border Anti Trafficking Network) by collaborating with other active South Asian NGOs.


The Cross-Border Anti-Trafficking Network (CBATN) is a South Asian regional coalition of NGOs that was founded in 2004 to serve as a coordination tool for encouraging and strengthening cooperation among the countries of South Asia to streamline and expedite ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking in the region. According to Indian Society Registration Act No. 11260, CBATN is registered. The CBATN has chapters in Bangladesh, Nepal, and India that are actively in existence. CBATN intends to broaden its activities across all of South Asia in the upcoming years, with a focus on Afganistan, Sri Lanka, Mayamar and Bhutan in.


Mission of EVAWG-CB


“To eliminate all forms of violence against women and Girls, particularly human trafficking with cohesive coordination building to Innovation and Network participation with domestic cross border,  SAARC, SCO & BIMSTEC countries, 14 Cross Border State & 1 Union Territory, 92 India’s Border districts, 1111 NGO’s, NPO’s , Institution, Volunteers Organization & Intellectual Activists Network Partner for Partnerships against Human Trafficking  of Women and Children – Cross Border in India”.


Problem statement: one in three women globally has experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime. CSOs/WROs – at the forefront of response and prevention - are under resourced and insufficiently recognized as key drivers of transformative change.


Theory of Action:


A world of global solidarity in which all women and girls live free from all forms of violence and enjoy and exercise their human rights


Objective of EVAWG-CB


To develop rich coordination and building partnership with Domestic cross border NGOs, SAARC Counties, BIMSTEC countries, SCO, including East Asian countries

Permanent systems and institutions are established to ensure significant reduction in cross-border human trafficking, End Violence against women and girls-cross border,  adequately supported by quality care to survivors and deserving punishment to the perpetrators

Improved prevention of VAW/G through changes in behaviors, practices

Improved access for women and girls to essential, specialist, safe and adequate multisectoral services

Increased effectiveness of legislation, policies, national action plans and accountability systems

Impact of EVAWG-CB: 


More women and girls, especially the most marginalized and those experiencing intersecting forms of discrimination, can exercise their human right to live a life free of all forms of violence at with domestic cross border cohesive partnership and coordination with domestic cross border NGOs, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC Counties), Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and including East Asian country’s government line organizations, nongovernmental organizations, network organization.

Enabling Outcomes


CSOs/WROs/NGOs, Network organization, Government Line Departments etc. are enabled to achieve sustainable impact on EVAW/G with a focus on the most marginalized women and girls and intersecting forms of discrimination

National and partner EVAW policy, programming and funding are more relevant to the needs of women and girls through the uptake of knowledge and evidence arising from  CSOs/WROs/NGOs, Network organization, Government Line Departments etc.

Stakeholders are mobilized in global solidarity to recognize and resource the essential role of inclusive feminist movements, CSOs and WROs in EVAW/G



Structure :


CBTN has a total membership for over 300 NGOs from India, Nepal & Bangladesh, CBATN is also committed to have 33% women representation at all levels of management.

End Violence against Women and Children (EVAWC) has been working to eradicate the Violence against women and Children (VAW/C) are a grave human rights violation, with immediate and long-term physical, sexual and mental consequences for women and girls.
